Here is the directory for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Important for ACT:
Frost Risk: In winter (June–August), many outdoor taps in Canberra are turned off or freeze.
"Garden Taps": Unlike some states, Canberra has fewer designated "Blue Standpipes." Most RV water is found at dump points or campgrounds.
Queanbeyan: While technically NSW, it is functionally part of the Canberra metro area for travellers, so the key site there is included.
Canberra Central (Parkes):
Commonwealth Park: Bubblers/Bottle Fill Only.
Location: Throughout the park (Regatta Point area).
Note: Difficult to access with a vehicle; suitable for jerry cans only.
Cotter Reserve (Casuarina Sands):
Cotter Campground: Threaded Taps.
Location: Scattered throughout the campground near the BBQ shelters and amenities blocks.
Access: High flow, reliable town water.
Curtin:
Cotter Road (Equestrian Park): Horse Trough/Tap.
Location: Near the entrance to the equestrian trails.
Warning: Check signage to ensure it is potable town water (usually is, but verify).
Hall:
Hall Showground / Camping: Threaded Taps.
Location: At the campground amenities.
Access: Generally for staying guests, but often accessible if the gate is open during events.
Kambah (Tuggeranong Region):
Kambah Pool Reserve: Threaded Tap (Tricky to find).
Exact Location: Go to the Dump Point. The tap is not on the dump point unit itself. Look for the small brick building nearby; the tap is mounted on the back of the metal air vent pole (approx. 10m from the road).
Visual Cue: Look for the silver pole sticking out of the ground near the bricks.
Mitchell (North Canberra):
EPIC (Exhibition Park in Canberra): Threaded Taps.
Location 1: At the public Dump Point (entry via Flemington Rd or Old Well Station Rd depending on events).
Location 2: On the exterior of the "Clubhouse" building near the oval.
Warning: EPIC frequently closes for major events (Summernats, Folk Festival). Check access before driving in.
O'Connor:
O'Connor Ridge: Bubbler/Dog Bowl.
Location: Near the nature park entrance. Jerry can fill only.
Queanbeyan:
Queanbeyan Showground: Threaded Tap.
Location: Glebe Avenue entrance. The tap is located near the dump point.
Weston Creek:
Stromlo Forest Park: Refill Station.
Location: Near the main car park/criterium track. Primarily for cyclists (bottles), but high quality water.
Hughie Edwards VC Rest Area (Majura Pkwy): This is a popular rest stop, but it has NO potable water (drop toilets only).
Namadgi National Park (Remote): Most taps in the deep national park (Honeysuckle Creek, Orroral Valley) are rainwater/untreated. Boil before use unless signed "Potable."
The "Air Vent" Pole: In ACT parks (like Kambah), if you see a dump point but no obvious tap, look for a galvanized metal pipe sticking out of the ground nearby (a sewer vent). The tap is often welded to this pole to prevent vandalism.
Oval Pavilions: If you are desperate in a Canberra suburb, almost every local oval has a "Sports Pavilion." There is usually a threaded tap on the external wall near the change rooms, though you may need a 4-way tap key as handles are often removed.
