Breakfast Creek Camp Site offers a serene, back-to-basics bush camping experience deep within the spectacular landscapes of the Alpine National Park. Situated along the Tamboritha Road north of Licola, this free campground provides an authentic opportunity to connect with nature in one of Victoria’s most treasured wilderness areas. As a designated national park site, it offers a more regulated environment compared to nearby state forest camps; notably, dogs and generators are not permitted, ensuring a peaceful and undisturbed atmosphere for all visitors. The campsite itself is a simple, open clearing, providing a blank canvas for self-sufficient campers to set up their tents, camper trailers, or caravans. Its location makes it an excellent staging point for further exploration of the high country’s southern reaches.Visitors must be entirely self-reliant.

There are no facilities at Breakfast Creek Camp Site – no toilets, no drinking water, and no rubbish bins. This underscores the importance of a ‘leave no trace’ philosophy; campers are responsible for bringing their own portable toilet systems and packing out every piece of rubbish. Access is via a gravel road which is generally suitable for 2WD vehicles and caravans in dry conditions, but caution is always advised as weather can change quickly in the mountains, affecting road quality. The area is a haven for wildlife, and the surrounding bushland invites quiet exploration. While there are no formal walking tracks originating directly from the site, the nearby roads and trails offer plenty of chances for a scenic stroll. For those properly equipped, Breakfast Creek serves as a tranquil base for fishing in the nearby rivers, 4WD touring, or simply soaking up the profound quiet of the Australian Alps, far from the distractions of modern life.
