Bull Creek Camp is a secluded, free bush campsite that offers a genuine escape for the self-reliant 4WD enthusiast. Tucked away within the vast and rugged Big River State Forest, this is a destination for those who prioritise solitude and adventure over amenities. Access is strictly for high-clearance 4WD vehicles via the Bull Creek Track, which branches off the main forest road network. The journey in can be challenging, with steep sections and potentially slippery clay surfaces, particularly after rain, ensuring that only well-prepared travellers make it to this tranquil spot. The campground itself is a small, natural clearing nestled deep in the forest, surrounded by towering eucalypts and dense undergrowth, providing a quiet haven far from the more popular riverside reserves.

This campsite is the epitome of primitive camping; there are no facilities provided. This means campers must be entirely self-sufficient, bringing a portable toilet, all necessary drinking water, and the means to carry out every item of rubbish. Adhering to ‘leave no trace’ principles is paramount to preserving the wild character of this location. As a state forest campsite, it is pet-friendly, allowing dogs to join in the remote adventure. The area is a fantastic launching point for further exploration of the extensive 4WD and trail bike network that crisscrosses the Big River State Forest. While not directly on a major river, the nearby creeks and the not-too-distant Goulburn River offer opportunities for a spot of fishing. Fires are generally permitted in line with forest regulations, but you must bring your own firewood. Bull Creek Camp is for those who find comfort in the quiet of the forest and the challenge of getting there, offering a rewarding sense of isolation and a true High Country experience.
