While generally accessible during dry weather, the clay-based tracks can become challenging after significant rainfall, often requiring 4WD capability. The campsite surface is predominantly compacted dirt and sand, offering firm ground for caravans, camper trailers, and tents. However, visitors must be mindful of the river red gums; camping directly under large branches is discouraged due to the risk of falling limbs, a phenomenon known locally as “widow makers.”

The location is a haven for outdoor recreation. Fishing is a primary drawcard, with the Murray Cod and Golden Perch (Yellowbelly) being the target species for many anglers casting a line from the bank or a tinny.
