Experience the raw beauty of the Gippsland coast at Paradise Beach Campground, a stunning, pet-friendly free camping area nestled in the dunes of the famous 90 Mile Beach. Located within the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, this rustic campground offers a genuine back-to-basics escape for self-sufficient travellers. Perched between the vast expanse of the Bass Strait and the tranquil waters of Lake Reeves, it serves as the perfect base for fishing, beachcombing, and exploring one of Victoria’s most dramatic and untouched landscapes.

Paradise Beach Campground is a Parks Victoria site offering 12 designated unpowered sites on a first-come, first-served basis. Tucked amongst the coastal tea-tree and banksias, the sites provide some shelter from the ocean breeze and are just a short walk from the pristine sands of the beach. This campground is ideal for those in tents, camper trailers, or small-to-medium motorhomes and caravans, though sites can be sandy and unlevel. Access is straightforward via Shoreline Drive, which is a sealed road, making it accessible for 2WD vehicles.

This is a truly self-sufficient campground. Basic amenities are limited to non-flushing toilets, communal fireplaces, and picnic tables. There is no potable water available, so you must bring your own supply for drinking and washing. Furthermore, there are no rubbish bins, meaning all campers must adhere to a strict ‘take-in, take-out’ policy to protect the sensitive coastal environment. Open fires are permitted in the designated fireplaces, but you must bring your own firewood and always check local fire restrictions.

The main attraction is the beach itself. As one of the longest uninterrupted beaches in the world, it’s a paradise for surf fishing, long walks, and simply soaking in the immense coastal views. Your four-legged friend is welcome to join you, provided they remain on a leash. While the campground feels wonderfully remote, the small township of Golden Beach is only a 5-minute drive away, offering a general store for basic supplies, petrol, and takeaway food. For a wider range of services, the regional hub of Sale is approximately 40 minutes away.

For a free, pet-friendly, and adventurous coastal stay, Paradise Beach Campground is an unbeatable choice. It’s a place to disconnect from the grid, listen to the sound of the ocean, and enjoy the simple pleasures of seaside camping.
