Your Riverside Sanctuary in the Heart of Gippsland

Discover a hidden gem nestled on the beautiful banks of the Macalister River. Montana on the Macalister is a sprawling 14-acre campground offering a truly picturesque and tranquil escape in central Gippsland. With over 500 metres of absolute river frontage, our park is a haven for those who love swimming, fishing, kayaking, or simply relaxing by the water’s edge. We are perfectly positioned just north of Lake Glenmaggie and south of the historic township of Licola, providing an ideal basecamp for exploring the Victorian High Country or visiting the charming local towns of Heyfield and Maffra. Our focus is on providing a quiet, clean, and spacious environment where families and individuals can unwind without the usual holiday crowds.

We cater to all forms of camping, from tents and camper trailers to large caravans and motorhomes. Choose from one of our 35 powered sites, conveniently located near the clean amenities block, or find your perfect secluded spot in our vast unpowered area, which stretches right down to the riverbank. Unlike many parks, we are proudly pet-friendly all year round, so your four-legged family members can join in the adventure. While we encourage a back-to-basics camping experience (we do not have a camp kitchen or BBQs), we provide all the essentials, including hot showers, toilets, and drinking water. The expansive lawns provide a safe and friendly environment for kids to play, and the gentle river access is perfect for all ages. For a peaceful, affordable, and authentic riverside camping experience, look no further than Montana on the Macalister.
